Kasane tends to say what's on her mind, at least in comparison to Subaru who is more reserved and careful with his words. As a result she comes off as more assertive in the relationship and things tend to move at her pace, which is what people mean when they say she's the man in the relationship. A more western way to put it would be she wears the pants in the relationship

I guess so. Those may be stereotypically masculine personality traits in many people's minds, though I don't personally agree myself. As an aside, "wearing the pants" is also a reference to being the man, isn't it? Since men historically and stereotypically wear pants more than women.
