Human want freedom, we arent dogs that will just do what you want if you give us a home and food, everyone strives for something, but slaves cant have that, they cant strive for anything, they are not free, but they arent dogs, they will fight and eventually they will get their freedom, because in the end they are humans.

Not gonna blame her for doing that, but if she did murder him, there’s like an 100% chance that since he was murdered they’d definitely not fulfill his will and would definitely just lynch her and anyone involved, and make the rest go back into normal slavery…also just “freeing” them isn’t nearly enough, there’s dozens of people on that farm, he’d need to make sure they get somewhere safer or again, 100% chance they won’t actually gain freedom, this guy has good intentions but slavers will be slavers and he clearly hasnt thought this through enough, no wonder he’s only survived by luck so far.

One of the bigger issues with being freed with violence is that you have no sale. Django unchained gave a reasoning for how and why Django was considered a free man with his bill of sale, and as abhorrent the business of slavery is, it ultimately WAS a business, and businesses are beholden to contracts and bills.

Had she killed him without assuring her own bill of sale to freedom or killed him and not gone on to kill everyother slaver she see's, she would have simply been sold back to slavery.

The Irish actually did grow wheat and raised cattle. However they could not afford to actually eat them, since they were grown for English landlords who exported them to the English market. While there were wheat and maize imports into Ireland, the vast majority of it was actually used for cattle feed. The reason the famine got so bad was not that they were entirely dependent on a monoculture (though that is the triggering factor), it's that Ireland was owned by absentee landlords who didn't actually live in Ireland and didn't care. Even Amelia's family, which is wealthy enough to employ servants, didn't actually own their land. This in turn is a result of the defeat of the Irish Alliance during the Nine Years War and the subsequent confiscation of all Irish owned land by the English Crown.
