Jokes aside and not to shit on you, that is a completely different sentence, IMO. A response that is suppose to convey "Why did you reject her? / Why didn't you give her a (positive) answer?" isn't even close to the same as "Why did you not give her an answer?". (Near) Identical sentences can mean completely different things depending on a single word or various contexts or tones. Especially across languages.
A translation (or scene or whatever in general) should reflect the message the words are conveying more so than the words themselves, because in this case it was pretty much nonsensical, even if it was "what she said" / an accurate translation. This is a good example of a situation a translator should have left a note or taken a more liberal translation that may not be accurate word wise, but accurate message / intent wise. Kinda like how you get a glossary in Shakepeare's plays or completely different translations when jokes that would be lost in translation are made.
Anyways, she's still pretty damn dumb if that's her response. The clarification / revision is appreciated.
