Least convincing child I've ever seen in a manga. Not that anyone was particularly mature or convincing in this, but it's rather annoying when child characters just act like mini adults. (Still, I enjoyed this. I have a huge soft spot for these years of pining come to fruition type stories.)

Like many of these, could really have done just as well without questionably throwing the child in as a would-be love rival (though this isn't the worst of that lot by far).

Aside from/despite that, this is really quite sweet (and not really terribly explicit, despite the yaoi tag).
