Seems like they need her to remember them in order to reveal and punish those involved, yeah. So it feels as though everything is about unlocking her memories by triggering them through these events. That explains why her girlfriend and father expect her to be upset with them but still feel as though they're helping her and others. That's my broad assumption for now at least.
