We live in the generation of being selfish and not respecting the wishes of your parents. Not shocked there are people shitting on the Dad. At least we know his wishes chapter 1 and not like 20 chapters later.

While I think he could've talked about the horrors of the job when she was a preteen instead of cutting her off completely I still understand his feelings on the matter. It's like being an army vet and your daughter wanting to go into army like you did. Suffering PTSD from on the ground war.

Some commentors have no understanding at all of why someone above you does something harsh to you for your betterment or safety. It's just selfish me me me. Which is what leads to stupid comments about the Dad.

Yeah. But he still failed as a father. Being absent. Not being with her. Not even an attempt to communicate. Now her daughter is a spiteful person.

You also sorta failed to see this angle of the people that’s shitting on the dad. Mental illnesses suck. But he’s still a shithead

Anyway, so far things are really predictable including the fact that she can pull the sword (page 5). The execution of the story made me a little pissed due to the predictability.

"We live in a generation of blah blah blah" lmao dude what the hell are you on?

Him being a shitty father has nothing to do with him not wanting his daughter to have a dangerous career. He called her a disappointment before immediately disowning her and abandoning his family. No self righteous justification from you or him hides the pure cowardice of that.

A more sympathetic or at least honest take on him is that he allowed his trauma to control his actions and spread his own misery onto his daughter instead of giving her proper guidance which doesn't make anything he did any better or any different from other deadbeats out there.

Whatever the reason the result is that his daughter is alone, deeply resentful, and ready to dive head first into the deadly profession he never wanted her in in the first place specifically to spite him. He's a failure of a father on all counts.

Uh no if you read my comment you should know I criticize the father as well. Saying how he should not have cut her off and should have told her the realties of the job. I literally said this you just did not pay attention. I understand the girl's pov I doubt any of the commentors criticism of the father understand his.

Bro if he was failure on all accounts he wouldn't have supported her through making sure she has a house to live in, money for food, and the like. He was absent and if you read my comment I literally mentioned this as a critique on what he did wrong. Pay attention Christ.

And yes him not wanting his daughter to be an exorcist is the reason he wasn't the best father. He cut her off and said very harsh words to help stop her from being an exorcist. His wife probably understood his decision based on dialogue from the daughter but the daughter obviously didn't. Not to mention to not have other exorcist notice her he had to cut himself off from her the story literally mentioned this. Now why did he have to do all this we don't know but there are reasons explained why his desire caused him to be a bad father. His desire and bad fatherhood are linked. If you payed attention you'd understand this.

What made me hate this cunt of a heroine was after being shown all this and still being spiteful towards him. If she said something like "I forgive the why but I don't forgive what you did" That would've shown she understood her father but did not agree with his actions which is better development than being a bleeding selfish cunt. She doesn't have to forgive everything he's done but she could at least understand why he did this.

He still did all the shitty things that made him a shitty dad. But you're right I'll grant that he did do the bare minimum.

All this sounds really like really shitty things to do to your daughter. Because it is. Going out of his way to tear her down make her feel worthless and leave her even with the passing of her mother. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.

So he is a bad father? What are you arguing with me for? Even if he wanted to hide her from exorcists this chapter seems to throw that excuse out the window since the exorcists gave her the explicit choice to join them in fighting or not. Seems more like he did the first dumbass thing that came to his mind and ran with it instead of exploring any option that involved raising his daughter.

Fuck you. I mean that sincerely.

You're pissy at me because I called a man a shitty dad for the shitty things he did but you call a teenage girl a "bleeding cunt" because she doesn't forgive the man for the shitty things he did? She doesn't owe him that and he doesn't deserve. She certainly doesn't owe him that in the span of 2 seconds after he abandoned her for years. He didn't come home and help her understand. He didn't grieve her mother's loss with her. He didn't even fucking apologize. If that moment ever comes it'll come when she finds her own peace and pass it to him even though he doesn’t deserve shit.

Honestly this response seems like an anger filled rant than a measured response. No dude I'm not pissy you called the Dad a shitty father. Don't go projecting your anger on me. You're clearly pissed I called the heroine a cunt despite the fact she is one. Not once in this entire response did you actually engage with my argument. You just mouthed off your own self-righteous rant about the injustices she suffered without any introspection on why it's all about me me me. Much like the heroine in this story. Which goes back to my original comment.

Never once did I say the father was in the right. It amazes how you've missed this point twice along with another commentator who was either blind or being stupid on purpose. All I've said is I understand his pov. Do you? No you clearly don't after these two responses have shown me. All you've done is whine why didn't he do this different why didn't he do that. He's such a shitty father. With no actual understanding of why he did what he did. Considering the fact it was the heat of the moment he did first thing he thought of. Belittlement. In his desperate desire at that moment to have her not be an exorcist he decided to crush her spirit. Harsh? Yes. Cruel? Yes. Was there another way? At that point maybe but he's lost so many family members and seeing his daughter wanting to take up his profession he decided to be the villain, so to speak, to protect her.

Now after the Wife died he could've said something and to that I agree but what? Apologize? Why would he do that? Recall his goal is to not have her be an exorcist so to him playing the villain so his daughter hates him and him leaving constantly and never being around has her blame both him and his profession he's doing exactly what he planned to do. To him he had nothing to apologize for. Talk? About what? He's got nothing to say as the scene clearly showed she's doesn't want to talk to him either. The relationship is, for the most part, dead. Daughter assumes he cares more about his job than his family and hates him and his profession for that so to the father mission accomplished.

My entire point is I understand the father's pov and don't think he's as stupid or dumb as other commentators think. I think his experience, fear, and love for his daughter clouded his judgement and he was ready for the family business to end with him. Everything he did was, even if she hated him, was for her safety. Obviously that didn't pan out but I understand why he did what he did but I definitely don't agree with his actions. It's not hard to have a little empathy for a battled-honed father not wanting his daughter to get herself killed because of the job he does. This scenario is literally a trope just not handled as well as it could have been

Now the final scene. Her angry rant about how she's going to "Do the thing he hates". Cunt is all I have to say. This man sacrificed a lot to make sure she lived a life away from this dangerous profession. She was shown why he was cruel to her, why he was never around, why he said that about his wife. It was all to protect her. Now did this chick after that have any introspection? Any nuance? Any understanding? No she acts like brat and says so out of spite. Chaining her reasoning to the emotion of spite instead of something like understanding and desire to be an exorcist that she's held hidden since she was young. But no she's just a brat shooting her mouth like it's some big achievement. Like it's just a dog barking to be threatening, and I find hilarious you'll give her a pass on not forgiving her father on why he did what he did after being shown that, but you refuse to understand why the father tried belittlement when she was unsheathing the sword in a hurry and called him stupid for doing so. Hypocrisy much?

After this I'm done. If you wanna argue go ahead. This series from this heroine alone is garbage. She acts like a male character but to make it less generic they gender swapped her but in doing so giving her an attitude and mannerisms of a dude screams cunt. I was curious on chapter 1 but I'm good after chapter 2. Especially since that chapter shows the reason why he's away from home a lot and was successful in his mission of keeping her hidden until he died. He also knew what he was doing was gonna lead to hatred of him but did it because he loved her that much and wanted to protect her. Not to mention he understood his daughter well enough that crushing her spirit was, in his mind, the best course of action to stop her. Cunt is this heroine's middle name. I'm done.

Uh huh. The girl has literally not done a single thing wrong. She hasn't harmed a single other person. I have nothing to be mad at her about. That's not hypocrisy. Her feelings are her own and entirely justified.

Her father’s feelings were justified too. What wasn't were the things that he actually did actually harmed his daughter. Things he did never did anything to fix. Understanding his reasoning doesn't change that.

You're mad that she doesn't give a free pass to the man who hurt her. I could maybe give you a pass because you seem to think character arcs are supposed to happen in happen within the span of a page for some reason but I won't because you're a clearly just a misogynist.
