with all the magic in that world, i thought they would have magic contract form between people like in ascended of the bookworm but instead they had to buy slaves again. i guess they dont have recruitment centers or merchant guilds or refer to their fellow merchants/connections to headhunt talented people.

So, why blame MC for falling in love with a possible Female Slave in the future and having her as another Concubine?
Because it's always the MCs fault. He always gets blamed for whatever weakness, distrust, or misunderstanding that stems from the love interests.

Marrying a Commoner on the other hand gives him flexibility, as it allows him to delay other marriage offers for now, plus not allow any other Noble/High Ranking family from gaining power while his own power is unstable.
It would still likely sow a lot of resentment. From a political point of view, a lesser noble is probably the best. Not someone with much power, so they're no threat to anyone (of importance), but still someone accepted as nobility.

They're right to doubt him.
Why?

Well, the New King is basically ruling with an Iron Fist, aka., no Noble is able to go against his decisions.

This is seen when most of the other Nobles wanted Rico to be executed after that coup, but he just outright over-ruled their opinions. And instead opted to get her married to MC, so that the other Nobles can't indirectly target her, as he basically demoted her position.

As for resentment from Noble's against the King for marrying a Commoner. Well some may view it favorably, while others would not.
But considering multiple marriage is possible, those Noble's would just have to wait until the King is ready to take another Wife/Concubine/Mistress.

Also, even if the King marries someone from lower ranked Noble family, it would still give them some level of authority which could cause conflicts.

Considering the social setting, it's obvious that recruitment center concept wouldn't exist.
As for merchant guilds, those usually deal with work, not workforce.
And finding talented people for a job is hard, especially in the limited scope of social setting and trust issues.
Getting a slave in this situation helps get a trustable and talented employee, and you also help them with their financial situation (since a slave in most cases is similar to a broke person with huge debts, who is forced to work for free).

Thank you for the chapter! I really hope this doesn't get dropped!
... I have no recollection of reading this series at all :/
Time to binge reread I guess.
You will never forget the first few chapters. Ever. I usually skip those when I reread because 😭
