I mean we had at least one of them reveal themselves as an alien in one chapter with a twisted 'thing-like' transformation, it could be that reason, but anything can happen at this point.

This seems somewhat familiar. A rehashed version of Ch 21... the last panel on page 5 is almost identical to the earlier ending.
