@kenkagejack the thing is, Strom has zero fucks ever since he completed his revenge. since he had zero fucks to facepalm, he couldn't care less if Shin comes over now that he's done with whatever he's doing

Seriously no one saw those troops move out. So much for having scouts.

And then again even the whole politics of every nation must be involve to invade is retarded.

Oh, we've been duped and used as bait by someone we knew was a jerk. Let's just fight these devilkilling monsters until they kill us and then think of the future (of which we will have none).

Instead of leaving the "worthless devils" behind, escaping towards capital to lead the forces there in return spite, then find a new castle to live in elsewhere. I guess suddenly ennui is the main trait of this particular bunch (as opposed to their previous isolationism).

@Chet31

I looked ahead in the raws.
The upcoming battle will take a couple chapters.
Commoner devils get annihilated (duh).
Ultimate magicians split off and face off against the elites (different from the scout squad elites).
They undergo some very difficult, simultaneous fights and get injured, with the POV constantly switching between them like it's an anime or something.
Excluding Shin's fight (whose fight is somewhat boring since his opponent relies on traps and is too busy mocking him and provoking him until he suddenly learns why Strom is so cautious of Shin), the other Ultimate Magicians display some impressively clever (for this manga, at least) tactics and teamwork, demonstrating that they've actually learned something about fighting.

Ex. 1: Thor and Julius face off against a pair of close-combat experts. They perform some impressive double-teaming to eventually defeat the devils. (Hard to explain how, just know that it was alot more impressive than before and involved more of their bodyguard melee training than actual magic).
Ex. 2: the Prince faces off against a tricky opponent that combines throwing knives and portals to attack from multiple angles constantly. Aug struggles hard but eventually comes up with some clever tactics (electrifying himself like he did in the anime, shooting back through the portals, etc.).

Maria has a deeply emotional battle against the female devil, whose unfortunate, f*ck-the-empire backstory is given.
Only 2 of the elites actually survive the fight. (The raws ended there for now, not sure what next).
Shin's opponent tries to take down Shin kamikaze-style. He fails (obviously).
Shin maybe realizes that Strom is acting separately from these guys...?

The manga does a slightly better job spreading out the focus on more of the squad, but some of the lesser members (Alice, Rin, Olivia, Mark, etc.) get less attention.

The people commenting that he should just blow away the entire territory, devils and all, are failing to remember that one of the primary objectives of the coalition was the reclaim the territory so that it could be rehabilitated and split up among the coalition members.

Repairing existing structures is significantly faster than having to rebuild everything from scratch.

Part of the reason the Ultimate Magicians became an "international"/"neutral" task force is so that the other kingdom don't regard Shin as a global threat or an Earlshide weapon of war.
He's working with them so that they're not (too) afraid of him.
While I don't doubt that he could blow away everything, I imagine that would both be REALLY BORING for us readers as well as unimaginably terrifying for the other kingdoms.

Why are the castle's devils even fighting, it's not like they have any loyalty toward storm and they can just surrender
