Thats pretty bad advice. "don't use magic she doesn't know because it will quickly be learned and thrown back a few times stronger"? What? Then instead use magic that she actually ALREADY learned and perhaps even practiced and is no doubt several times stronger then something she learned a couple seconds ago. At best it can be summed up as "leave a trump card" Rest of it is useless at best.

@ phantom... i dont think its a bad advice... but in this case, 'futile' is the correct term...
e.g: she already copied your lightning shield magic; in most rpg that adopt commonly used elementals affinity, to counter lightning-based shield you'll need to use earth-based elemental attack/magic...
so, if rola use lightning shield magic, in order to break through her shield, you need to use earth magic... it will probably works, assuming rola's magic power is equal or slightly higher/lower than yours...
the one that can be called 'genius' power is around 100+ and rola's is 9999 (lets make it 10k for easy estimation)...
Condition: rola deploy a 10k power level of lightning-based shield...
Action: you will use a 100+ power level of earth-based magic to break her barrier...
Analogy: 10k power level vs 100 power level
Conclusion: Futility can also be described with you are trying to break a diamond with rubber hammer...
Solution: Best course of action and most logical action to take is just trying to catch rola off-guard with surprise attack from her blind spot...

Well, it's alot easier to predict and plan for your opponents actions if it's limited to stuff they're used to, and since the magnitude of power difference is so huge..
Definitely better off spending your time trying to develop tactics for handling her rather than just mindlessly try use different spells, considering the difference in magnitude.

@watersad There are very good reasons why we don't have diamond swords and armor in real life. Several. Quite a few of them being shattered bits of diamond lodged into your gut.

"Diamond is one of the hardest materials* on earth" that's indeed true, however It doesn't mean It's the toughest one, It actually is pretty fragile, since It's hardness only really provides It with resistance to scratching.
The toughness of diamonds is around 2.0 MPa, which is good compared to most gemstones, but poor If compared to most engineering materials. That means that diamonds can be easily broken even by just hammering them.
...
Anyways, back on topic.. If at the 6th chapter things are already like this, I wouldn't be surprised If they actually add a yuri tag later on. lol
