I'm still stuck somewhere around chapter 145 since there's tons of skipped chapters afterwards. Entire volumes.

To anyone wondering, there's an official English release for this series until volume 21.

Most (free) sites only have until volume 17 of the official releases, then comes volume 22 scanlated by Red Hat Scans followed by the ongoing scanlation of volume 23 by Sweetie Scans.

Unfortunately, Mangadex doesn't allow people to upload official releases (as per uploader guidelines). Void from Sweetie Scans will be uploading volumes 18-21 on other sites. They will somehow circulate and so you will eventually see them on whatever site/app you use to read... other than Mangadex, I guess.

So, official releases aside, the only scanlated volume that isn't on this site is actually volume 22 (chapter 176 - 185) done by Red Hat Scans.

My childhood!
I'm not sure how people see it, but, as for me, this manga is gold.
This surely made my day. Back then and even now.
Global fans haven't see how fun this manga is. Around 2015, there were remake, and as I expected, it didn't have many attentions. Too bad.

I only bought more or less 10 volumes that time. Yeah, I was 6-7 yrs old and didn't afford it. Not much to be done.
Precisely more than 10 years ago and I feel so old rn.

You should buy it while you can. Support it. This manga labeled as an ecchi but not that much. Less fanservice. A lot of fun. The ecchi tag didn't make me cringe, eww as in disgust. It's acceptable, believe me, I hate that stuff.

I really love how stupid they are, as a slave, the captain busy himself with gunpla and such.

Don't let the 1-5 ratings distract you, this is an enjoyable read.
Don't expect much about the story. I think it's done pretty well. All of the characters are unique to boot, very likeable. The stupid captain, the cult, the-don't-judge-by-its-cover and many more.

It may seems too childish like Doraemon, Crayon Shinchan, but it is actually not.

How much are they enforcing this? I ask 'cause I know a few titles, now out of print, where the official pages are scanned in and uploaded here.

It depends.
Sometimes the discontinued series rights were purchased/bringed back and put on e-reading platform like Comikwalker or Comixology.

Kinda funny how this manga is still going strong in Japan, but in the West, no scanlator will touch it.

Not yet though but there ought to be (at least the ones that can be at least close to faithful to the original Japanese), despite the fact that links to the source chapter-wise are allowed in spite of the link on the title page.
