It feels fairly simple no? Realistic does not always mean fun to read, especially at the current pace. I get you like and enjoy it, but surely you can understand why others may not right?

A lot of people don't read fiction in search of realism. They do so for escapism. If the boring or miserable parts of real life show up in that escapism, it tends to rub a lot of people the wrong way.

It’s not that it’s the fact that they aren’t talking. It’s the fact that this has been going on for months (our time) with them just going over the whole jealousy/music problems/no communication/misunderstanding schtick again and again with literally no real narrative progress. Now Aya is jealous of her child brother and STILL not talking? Sure, it’s a way to get her to go to the festival, but they’re acting less and less like real characters and more and more like caricatures.

Yeah, you gotta account for the real life time passing for the audience when writing something this slow - it might not have been that long for them, but it sure feels like it.
