As a history buff and an engineer by schooling, my immersion jumped out the window when they did a closeup of Helena's boots and showed what is clearly a modern rubber outsole...which would be impossible in a Renaissance-technology society with no access to vulcanized rubber.
Historically, the bottom of that boot would have been plain hard leather, potentially with hobnails as studs for traction (think less spiky versions of the cleats seen on football shoes).
