This whole "dude, what if le demons were just like humans :O" trope is so tiresome. Jinta asks himself, "If that's the case, then how are humans and demons any different?" Idk bro, how are chimps and bonobos any different? Oh, right, they're two entirely separate fucking species and have only some relation to one another. It's a human flaw, I guess; we're so used to ourselves being the only species capable of higher thought that a lot of people, especially noticeable with writers cause they blabber so much, tend to conflate any decent level of sapience with humanity itself. The more sapient something is, the more "human" it is treated, even if it's completely non-human. These demons, in the story, are not the same as humans, the same way that Neanderthals weren't, and I'm tired of writers who think they're being clever by writing fucking demons as if they're supposed to be some sympathetic underdogs, when they're really just showing themselves to be limited in thought. Jinta should have been killing them like worthless scum, as he had been doing, because they're at best a competing species, and at worst, a predator of humans. Why should a mouse think twice about killing an owl, if it had the ability? You can't make me believe that anyone would feel bad or think twice about killing the 2-ton human killing machine if they're a. human, and b. have the ability to kill it. This shitty trope is so stupid. It's also beyond trite, and I just wish writers would stop using it.
