Just because SHE was distraught doesn't mean HE was. He just wanted to go home. She kidnapped him, made him fight the demon lord put him through hell, his actual friends in that world all died, she could send him home any time she wanted, but wouldn't until he won, why wouldn't he hate her?

I mean I wouldn’t? She had no choice, and atop of that getting sent back was a choice she could have refused, they didn’t kill him afterwards, they didn’t torture him nor force him with a hostage of that world, there are many things that they could have done and in most cases you can never go back. Unlike every other summoner she upheld her side of the deal.

Atop of this it was never once stated at all that she “forced” him. She didn’t make him do nothing, nor did it ever state he wanted to go home. He seemed to from the panels actually enjoy his time there up until his friends died and he was left in mourning and most likely self hate for letting them die. (Good old survivors guilt is a thing)

We do not know the pretense for which she could or could not let him go back. Seeing her expressions she seemed more of the type to ask him instead of hold him at metaphorical gun point. She had a job to do and it was to save her world.

After I had time to think it’s more likely he’s just projecting blame at the summoner and himself because of that very same survivors guilt.

Yeah, it is obvious the mangaka intends to do a bait and switch (i.e "ah its so weak it is tough to keep the valuable materials whole" or whatever), but because he ended the chapter on that comment to force a cliffhanger, means I have now decided to obstinately lock in mc as being barely B(solo)-rank, no matter what next chapter shows.

I doubt it, the friend made it seem like it is a thing that happens often, but if it were then the numbers would have made it all too obvious and the insider would have gotten slapped damn hard. Not hard to know who is doing this if all the mis-ranked dungeons originate from 2-3 ppl and all result in the same few companies swooping in to profit.

So there is no way that employee would agree to such a thing (or a company would take the risk), unless this is a pure one-time thing. But that is now how the friend presented it to us readers.
