and stop liking the idea of being a slave so much. She's both traumatized and has horrible memories of slavery... yet she's happy to be one. It just doesn't fit right to me.

I don't think it's her enjoying the idea of being a slave as much as her internalizing the behaviour typical for her former station. It's like, if you've been taught your whole life to address your elders with a polite honorific, it might be weird calling them without one if you move somewhere with a different culture. Similarly, it might feel strange for her to stay in a dirty room when she has free time and nothing better to do.
