I think the story needs a more scary and imposing character design for the MC but the editors didn't want to commit to something too outside of your typical shoujo manga designs.

The point is that she's not scary that's why she comments about Yuka facing her head on she doesn't look scary nor does she seem to be doing anything scary it's not her looks it's the rumors the point is people getting so caught up in what they think they know about a person that they don't pay attention to what's right in front of them
