"Subjects are importants", well, I'm not japanese, but in my language subjects are everything. You start with them, you spell them explicitly, you clarify them regularly, especially as they change with conversation flow. It's virtually not possible to have such ridiculous misunderstandings unless one party is completely out of it, like, not listening others at all. I do wonder, if it's normal for japanese or author just exaggerates it on a regular base for comic effect. If so then it's...not very funny for me

Won't a normal person just say "There's a bee over your shoulder." How could her communication skills be that bad. 😭

Japanese tends to play a lot with language. They can omit a lot of stuff if it can be extracted from context, which is bad when you consider that their verbs don't exactly map for the actor (Spanish does, English doesn't), and almost by time tense (save for expressions like "want to verb", it's just past or not-past).

That's some of the tidbits that I learned from one year of Japanese, so others will be able to explain further and correct where I'm wrong.

PS.: ofc, there's also a "if we don't exacerbate these situations, then we don't have a fun story," but there's still some kernel of truth underneath.
