First time Kuroi kills someone "gently" without messing with them first, I guess even a crazy yandere bastard like him has some standards left.

Also, this might be the first time I see a mute character have such a breakdown in fiction. Considering my limited knowledge of how mute people vocalize, Kurumi's speech bubbles were pretty spot-on.

Thanks for the chapter @CopyPaste and merry Christmas <3

The unrequited love issue is kinda lame....
Also, the killing and crying...

Now, time for the flame girl to die....but not Botan.....

Normally I can agree that these scenes are not well-executed in manga, but this time I have to make an exception.

I don't know if you or anyone else here knows what kind of... noise a mute person makes when they vocalize (being mute does not mean they do not emit sound), and my experience might be twisted because I was a small child back then, but at the time it sounded nightmarish.

I also don't think people fully appreciate Kurumi's situation. It was obvious since her recon trip (filming around a few chapters ago) that she's in love with Kuroi, and it was obvious this would've led nowhere since Kuroi only has eyes for Mashiro and could not give a fuck if the world exploded around him.

So we have a "hopeless suitor" situation, and when said suitor is cornered with no way out she can't even speak her feelings because, being mute, all that comes out of her mouth is noise?

tl;dr - Kurumi's breakdown was, for me, one of the most powerful scenes of the manga so far.

As for Kuroi being unaware that he's crying yes, it's cringe, but do remember this guy lived most of his life as an unfeeling psychopath. IMHO it says a lot that he killed Kurumi in the gentlest way possible (in that situation) and even shed tears over it - there is SOMETHING behind the cheery psycho we've known from chapter one.

I'm with your statement "tl;dr - Kurumi's breakdown was, for me, one of the most powerful scenes of the manga so far."
but why does she have to die?

@Haru_2

Kurumi was still a mole aligned with the Shirotae Project, and as explained in this chapter the whole school takeover was engineered by the spooks behind said project to "test" and "observe" Mashiro.

Remember that anyone who goes after Mashiro for ANY reason will end up on Kuroi's kill list, and the rest is history.

@pihip i agree with u and Haru...
Kurumi's breakdown was, for me, one of the most powerful scenes of the manga so far.

But why the unrequited love ??
What does Kuroi done that deserves Kurumi love...
Even Kuroi love for Mashiro has a reason, though somewhat...... questionable...

and, why Kurumi has to die....u said that because she is involved in a group that goes after Mashiro, but ..... it's probably ur deduction, we dont know that for sure...and Kurumi acts was on passive side, she didnt do any real harm to Mashiro, just recording....if Kuroi is so vengeful toward anyone who endanger Mashiro, he should kill the headmaster and anyone involved in sending them to America Latin...

It was pretty obvious from previous comments she made, but in this chapter Kurumi spells out in no uncertain terms that she loves Kuroi, but Kuroi only has eyes for Mashiro. She may have not used the textual phrase "I love you", but I don't think it takes a science to understand it.

As for why she loves him so much well, you'd have to ask Kurumi herself. :(

And no, nothing of this is my headcanon. Not Kurumi's love for Kuroi, nor her role as a traitor and a mole for the Shirotae Project (notice how the Yamabuki twins are seeing from her tablet camera when Kuroi points at it?).

Lastly, Kuroi is not vengeful, he's yandere (and also overall insane). Mashiro is his (in a very twisted and not necessarily romantic sense) and if you fuck with her in any way, HE fucks YOU up. Remember that girl who committed suicide in an early chapter? That was Kuroi's hypnosis in response to her nagging about Mashiro, or the two wannabe molesters crushed by truck-kun when Mashiro was alone in the streets - again, Kuroi hypnotizing them and leading to a messy death.

Kurumi monitoring Mashiro for the Shirotae spooks counts as fucking with her in Kuroi's eyes.

Oh yeah you're right, I almost forgot Kuroi is not your typical Black-haired swordsman MC. He's a Yandere that's the answer all along. Gosh, I read too many isekai and harem. 😖
