The unrequited love issue is kinda lame....
Also, the killing and crying...
Normally I can agree that these scenes are not well-executed in manga, but this time I have to make an exception.
I don't know if you or anyone else here knows what kind of... noise a mute person makes when they vocalize (being mute does not mean they do not emit sound), and my experience might be twisted because I was a small child back then, but at the time it sounded
nightmarish.
I also don't think people fully appreciate Kurumi's situation. It was obvious since her recon trip (filming around a few chapters ago) that she's in love with Kuroi, and it was obvious this would've led nowhere since Kuroi only has eyes for Mashiro and could not give a fuck if the world exploded around him.
So we have a "hopeless suitor" situation, and when said suitor is cornered with no way out she can't even speak her feelings because, being mute, all that comes out of her mouth is noise?
tl;dr - Kurumi's breakdown was, for me, one of the most powerful scenes of the manga so far.
As for Kuroi being unaware that he's crying yes, it's cringe, but do remember this guy lived most of his life as an unfeeling psychopath. IMHO it says a lot that he killed Kurumi in the gentlest way possible (in that situation) and even shed tears over it - there is SOMETHING behind the cheery psycho we've known from chapter one.
