The FL is your typical naive kind girl, but the ML really is an enigma as a character. He embodies the "misunderstood jerk" trope but there's something about him that makes him hard to decipher, in a good way, which makes him a lot more interesting than what you would expect in his archetype. There's a bunch of narrative angles and framing on his character that adds a lot of complexity and mystery.
