Dude if you hate your parents just say so? Having your dad get fired, in Japan a country where this kind of thing 100% can blacklist you from the job market (hell you can get blacklisted for quitting a job if your company is vindictive enough), is fucking scary. Especially if you know how hard they work.

Also we have no indication he’s incompetent just that he made a mistake. Most rational human beings would be terrified, let alone a highschool girl with an incredibly powerful and wealthy sociopath of a kid blackmailing you with it.

It’s a guarantee her life would be completely upended by this, a fact she knows and I’m sure that shitter of a kid made sure to drill into her. In contrast our ML would face what? A minor setback? He already styles himself as the school villain, and despite not being favored he still has incredible wealth and resources so he’s not going to be expelled or face any kind of tangible consequences. The MC also won’t face any consequences at all since she wasn’t the target.

I won’t say it wasn’t a shitty thing to have to do but again, there really was not a choice here. It’s 100% not something to lose a potential friend over, especially since it’s clear that she HATES that she had to do it.

I won’t speak on the little brother’s potential arc, that remains to be seen.

You think a person can be blacklisted for making a mistake on the job, but not be suspended and socially condemned for cheating on a school exam to recieve the top score? This is the kind of thing that can turn high school kids into hikikimori

Your whole idea of being blacklisted for quitting your job over a mistake or being fired is a manga thing that's over exaggerated. In fact you have it so backwards, that companies would rather you quit than be fired, because it reflects so poorly on THEM and because Japan's newer labour laws vastly favor workers.

Her dad would've been fine. Guaranteed her life would've been upended? Doubt she'd even have noticed. Know what can fuck up your life? Not getting into college because you have a cheating strike on your student record.

Getting caught cheating is far worse than getting fired. She choose herself over someone else. Selfish.

She recognizes there are likely outside circumstances forcing her to do what she did but aside from that she is a good person. I mean she already knows the little brother is a conniving little shit, so why burn a bridge when you can gain a new ally instead?
Doesn't matter. Whatever her circumstances are, she still willingly choose to do something bad and it's not something minor, she did something to blame someone of stealing the answer sheets and using them for cheating, that could end in the suspension or expulsion of said person. Also, what stops her from doing it again if the circumstances allows it?

I read that speech bubble as coming from the brother talking about Wataya being too shocked to se "reality" the reality being that she was betrayed

It's really funny when people have less emotional maturity than the fictional teenagers in the story they're reading. It's not even that complicated a story either!
Right? Folks like “why would she want to be friends with her” the girl is a self-described henchman for a self-described villain? I’m sure she can overlook something like this lol

Yeah, sorry for valuing my friends enough to not betray them no matter the circumstances.
Homie they met a couple days ago. You’d pick someone you met a couple days ago over your own flesh and blood parent?

Normaly when the character is off panel the mangaka uses A chibi of the chatacter speaking however with the possition of the arrow section I get the confusion. But at this point he would be behind her not infront..

Also the panel before he says something like "you were betreayed, completly" (I have my phone and the raws on me only at the moment).

This speaks to me as she understands looking back that Kei betrayed her, and she was so in shock at the time she didn't want to believe it.

As someone that read the next ten chapters.... I get why Mamori forgives Kei, and I also get why so many are mad at her.

With out spoiling anything. I'll just say that Kei really is the catyst these two need. I feel like the story would be worse without her.
