i can't tell if the story is actually going to explicitly contradict the 'leave your teammates for dead' paradigm. a lot of training bits introduce problems of such nature, and the mc would always choose to save the teammate. considering that the story is explicit about the org lacking personnel, one would assume that the mc's principle is correct. yet, the story keeps posing the same problems.
that aside, i hope the teacher doesn't get a sob story and just eat dirt at some point. this chapter was designed for drama. there's no real point to this training besides giving the mc's team a hard time, showing how unreasonable the teacher is. on the other hand, the mc agreed to the teacher's assessment, conveying the notion that the teacher has a point. even though in a real mission, they should be informed on what their equipment does in the first place (making it clear that falling will not kill them), among other things command should be responsible for.
overall, this chapter is annoying. the drama works for me. but because the details are iffy, the point it's trying to make is a bit confusing. the strongest impression left on me is wanting to teacher to eat dirt. which makes this chapter a bit redundant because the tea chapter already did that.
