Yes, he is neglectful towards his son, but I don't subscribe to the idea that parents must sacrifice their entire lives for their children. Except he's been this way seemingly for Hotiyoshi's entire childhood, without bothering to even talk to his son to explain why he behaves this way. This is nowhere near sacrificing his life for his children, he was never even present to begin with. They got all the physical necessities (shelter, food, clothing) but none of the emotional care children need from their parents in order to grow healthily. The kid isn't even out of high school dude what are you talking about
