Hasn’t this already been completely TLed?
What happened to the other chapters?
Does anybody else have this saved for no random reason but can't remember why.
No this originally did have a proper translation..... It wasn't completed but it was pretty good....
And it really was on mangadex.... Which is why so many people bookmarked the series...
Though for some reason the translator seem to have removed their translation....
My scans are not a reupload, and this series has never had a proper translation. there were uploads on this page before, but they were removed, and the uploader is banned from uploading because of
site rule 1.7 which prevents no-human-intervention MTL being posted to the site. The rule isn't just there because the uploads that got removed were bad scans. Being bad at making scans will not get you banned.
Before I go further, let me break down what aspects of fan translations give them value to the website:
1. gives access to the comic (no need to look for a copy on bookwalker)
2. allows us to read and understand the comic
3. only so many chapters can be produced (time, people, effort, experience are needed)
4. only certain series are chosen for scanlation
no-human-intervention MTL completely invalidates 3 & 4. If we allow no-human-input MTL onto the site, suddenly all the real scanlations, which this site was created to aggregate/archive, have been devalued by AI that doesn't need to sleep, and has no limit to the amount of chapters it can "translate." this might not necessarily be the end of the world, if not for...
It is seriously questionable AT BEST on point #2 which is the whole point of making a translation.
Even the best MTLs done with human involvement cannot be guaranteed to be accurate or free from major errors because the human can't audit the machine's work. If the person doesn't know Japanese or English (sadly a lot of people learning english use MTL as an opportunity to practice their skills) they're relying on the machine to understand the languages for them, which means they cannot accurately audit it's output, without being able to understand the source language input text.
Given that even MTL
with human involvement is fundamentally flawed, the depths to which no-human-input MTL can sink are practically bottomless. The issues present with regular MTL are
only ever worse, and usually several times worse with no-human-input MTL.
The only point of value for scanlations that no-human-input MTL does not seriously compromise is the least important, #1. anyone with room temperature intelligence can copy-paste a series name and "read free online" into google.
Because there's no human effort involved in these "scans," there's no need to archive their output from the site's perspective, because they have no value as scanlations. 5 minutes of googling is all thats stopping anyone interested in that slop regenerating it for themselves. the same input will yield the same output because no-input-MTL is a mechanical process rather than a creative process. As long as you use the same software and manga there should be no uniqueness/variance between outputs. And if there is a difference between the outputs, congrats on realizing just how fucked these tools are, and how much they hallucinate.
This manga was on my radar half a year before the ichigo reader uploads got puked onto the site, and they pushed back my timetable for getting this scanlation made because i've got 15 other concurrent projects at my group, so projects are only possible with the help of my teammates. Whether I like it or not, folks can get a bit apprehensive about going out of their way to scan something if fewer people will read it, or theres a risk of drama, because of previous uploads, even if they're completely without merit or value as scanlations, like the uploads that were deleted.
It should come as no surprise that experience and many hours of effort beat out some guy with access to ichigo reader in terms of quality, but if i havent been able to communicate why keeping no-input-MTL off the site is so important, pull up our scan and the AI's "scan" side by side. Unlike the AI, you guys have eyes, so i've got faith you'll be able to tell something's wrong with what it put out. AI tools have the potential to be a massive force for change in the future, but right now they're not living up to that potential one bit.
I know better than anyone that waiting for a human TL that may never come is frustrating, It's one of the reasons I started my group all those years ago. But the consequence of accepting no-human-input MTL is that you risk getting stuck with it. Dont just complain about people, or run to ichigo reader, get involved, and someday you might be able to be like me and scan and read whatever you feel like.
Letting no-input-MTL onto the site would not be fair to the readers who deserve a good reading experience, unfair to the artists who deserve to have their work faithfully translated, and it's not fair to the scanlators and MD's operators who have built up this site, and the community at large, through years of constant effort.
Im glad the previous "scan" was deleted.
