Not going to blame anyone for thinking my perspective is nuts, but… whew. This was a huge relief, though possibly still premature.

I had steeled myself for possibly 1-4 chapters of Mommy Dearest making her life hell, maybe even trafficking her and/or torturing her, before we got back to her interacting with Uichi. :shamihuh:

The trope of "Character misleadingly blames themselves too harshly" does seem really likely. Maybe something on the order of "Uichi, is it really you?" and he freaks out which scares her away then she comes back the next day to find out that was his last straw.
I was also quite worried about that. The entertainment industry has a reputation for that kind of thing if you’re not careful, and the mother seemed like someone who would chase fame at any cost.

I doubt that the brother is the mastermind. The mastermind seems to be a very empathetic person, which is why they were able to manipulate Uichi's family and surroundings so easily. While we haven't seen that much of him yet, the brother doesn't seem to be very empathetic. So far the only sus thing about him is the very convenient timing of Demon Mom's death

i dont think its her brother and i hope its not.
having everyone around be shitty besides the leads is tacky and boring.
also big bro's probably was also a victim of there mother considering she actually kept him and god knows what she did to him.

Fun fact, you can see the “middle school betrayer”/Rei in the background of the memory where Yotsuba brings kids to play with Uichi… I won’t spoil the next chapter but keep note of this.

I suspected it was not gonna be the case because of how fast the chapter went, I think the author has plan for a lot of things to tell, but doesn't want to get stuck on something for too long, we were given enough information to understand who was her stepmother and what impact she had on her and that's probably enough.

Also mind you given the naming scheme of Yotsuba and Mitsuba and the implication the mysterious dead person may actually be one of their siblings, whose to say the real Clover isn’t “Ichisuba” or “Nisuba” (depending which wasn’t the one that committed suicide)

So it's pretty clear she probably gets freaked out by the way he is and abandons him and that's the final nail in the coffin for him to kill himself, I'm thinking the brother is possibly, could be a siscon that did this to Uichi to try and keep her to himself, there are no other obvious candidates.
IMO Only other candidate is maybe her hacker friend that showed up for 1 chapter and hasn’t since

The day she...what???
I'm willing to bet she said something she didn't mean to say and didn't realize she drove him to his death or something.

Yotsuha's admission to the hospital, the persecution of Uichi, and Utako's messaging with the anonymous account all started simultaneously. Mitsuha could be the link. He may be holding Uichi responsible for Yotsuha enduring hell until she collapses, so Uichi must in turn reach his breaking point. I'm looking forward to seeing his character develop further.

I was expecting for it to be something like; Uichi reaches out to Yotsuba in his desperation, but Yotsuba, overwhelmed with what's going on in her life, turns him down, causing for him to think that the final branch he was holding on to is no more and kill himself, and Yotsuba is motivated by guilt to save him.

i agree to certain point, but i disagree on siscon part he didn't even talked with yotsuha he must just think she's guilty of his mother death

I mean that only makes sense if we assume Clover time travelled too (which is a fair assumption but not necessarily an accurate one). If he lets say knew about his sister he could have stalked her from afar then tried to remove Uichi for being too close to her, that was the angle I was going for when I said siscon.

i dont understand why you say he time travelled too because he could get to know uichi by the letters, the we even saw that stopped coming and from that moment the brother would know about uichi

Not really about the brother, but at the very least Clover has to know about Yae somehow to be able to recruit him in their killing Uichi mission (to say nothing about knowing Uichi’s family directly to influence Utako years ago). It is clear Clover has to know TRULY deep details of Uichi’s life (and maybe Yotsuba’s) that seems almost supernatural if not years worth of stalking (far more than the measly 5ish years we assume Clover has been active in attacking Uichi).

Also it says something that Clover immediately set out to do their financial scamming scheme sooner than it occurred in the original timeline, implied to only be because Yae was MIA for about a few days. Clearly Clover planned their scheme in advance but whose to say it’s not from repeated attempts to destroy Uichi until they perfected it and planned for many contingencies in case one aspect falls.
