Not really about the brother, but at the very least Clover has to know about Yae somehow to be able to recruit him in their killing Uichi mission (to say nothing about knowing Uichi’s family directly to influence Utako years ago). It is clear Clover has to know TRULY deep details of Uichi’s life (and maybe Yotsuba’s) that seems almost supernatural if not years worth of stalking (far more than the measly 5ish years we assume Clover has been active in attacking Uichi).

Also it says something that Clover immediately set out to do their financial scamming scheme sooner than it occurred in the original timeline, implied to only be because Yae was MIA for about a few days. Clearly Clover planned their scheme in advance but whose to say it’s not from repeated attempts to destroy Uichi until they perfected it and planned for many contingencies in case one aspect falls.
yeah you are right i guess we'll have to wait do find out the truth

Not going to blame anyone for thinking my perspective is nuts, but… whew. This was a huge relief, though possibly still premature.

I had steeled myself for possibly 1-4 chapters of Mommy Dearest making her life hell, maybe even trafficking her and/or torturing her, before we got back to her interacting with Uichi. :shamihuh:

The trope of "Character misleadingly blames themselves too harshly" does seem really likely. Maybe something on the order of "Uichi, is it really you?" and he freaks out which scares her away then she comes back the next day to find out that was his last straw.
tbf to Yotsuha, if her freaking out at him is what sent him over the edge, then blaming herself actually seems pretty reasonable

i dont understand why you say he time travelled too because he could get to know uichi by the letters, the we even saw that stopped coming and from that moment the brother would know about uichi
Because the bad stuff started to happen before the mothers death

So it's pretty clear she probably gets freaked out by the way he is and abandons him and that's the final nail in the coffin for him to kill himself, I'm thinking the brother is possibly, could be a siscon that did this to Uichi to try and keep her to himself, there are no other obvious candidates.
hmm Ima be honest I think the brother is just kind of like... existing. Like ig the brother is a good possibility but idk something doesn't fit with it.

I'm just going based on the characters we have been introduced to, his mother and sister definitely aren't as they were being manipulated by Clover and whilst his father wasn't we have seen his internal monologue and it doesn't match either, the people at school that we've seen at school were all being manipulated indirectly through Yamato and whilst Clover would have absolutely thrown him under the bus if supporting Yamato would compromise them, them being a member of the class just doesn't feel right to me, I feel they would want to keep more distance as they have done so far. The hacker girl is a possibility but there is no potential motivation I can think besides being psychopathy. I like the idea of it being the brother as with the upbringing he would have gotten from his mother I can understand why he may have gone off the deep end and it's a realistic reason that doesn't require either of them to have wronged anyone. The only other possibility I can think of is it's someone that hasn't been introduced yet but that wouldn't be fun as it wouldn't be a real mystery then, it's like if the ending of Murder on the Orient Express was that the guy was murdered by assassins from the mafia. Erased, for all its flaws, had a satisfying reveal and I would hate it if this series fumble harder than Erased.

I was expecting for it to be something like; Uichi reaches out to Yotsuba in his desperation, but Yotsuba, overwhelmed with what's going on in her life, turns him down, causing for him to think that the final branch he was holding on to is no more and kill himself, and Yotsuba is motivated by guilt to save him.
That’s probably what happens. However, I think it’s also possible, but unlikely, that she does too much. She’s said before that trying to separate him from his family doesn’t end well. It’s why she’s helping his family despite despising them. It’s possible that she becomes enraged seeing this, and does something to his family, and that’s what pushes him over the edge. By does something, I mean like reports them to the police or gets into a big fight and the stress of being pulled from both sides pushes him over, or something like that. Then again, from her perspective, her mother just died and that solved all her problems, so that solution might be fresh in her mind. Anyway, lots of possibilities.

The brother feels like a red herring but idk if I'm right.
I wouldn't put heavy odds on it, but it could be. He feels a bit too obvious, and the author seems to be trying a little too hard to startle readers with the unexpected.
