The possibilities that come to mind for grandma's weird "it's been a long time", none of which seem to make sense with the "please leave", alphabetical order:
  • Fuu: Is clover, but then why would grandma think she hasn't recently been back if Fuu planted the note?
  • Uichi: Came over as a kid
  • Yotsuha: Got mistaken for Mommy Dearest, who Rei was somehow petition-campaigning about (to save from getting fired or some such)?
Lots more questions than answers from this chapter, of course.

Full cap, why did the friend have nausea meds?
Thank you for that possibility… I'm not sure it makes sense for the mfr to make nausea meds that big (a nauseous person swallowing something that large is likely to trigger vomiting), but at least it's another possibility.

My first thought was anti-anxiety meds, but at least for me, it seems even more unlikely. Anxiolytics are typically tiny, since they're seldom more than a few milligrams.

The readers these past 2 chapters:

If you're actually working with the new TL team, fair enough. Putting in the work for this manga gives you every right.
If not, that's some seriously trollish threadcrapping.

Several sus points.
1) Grandma seems to recognize the friend
2) The friend is the one that volunteered to untie the noose, which gives her an excuse if she was the actual mastermind and her fingerprints are found nearby.
3) The noose is drawn relatively short, which means it will be relatively difficult for Rei to tie the noose behind his neck without looking, especially in a narrow closet.
4) Rei doesn't seems to be hanging freely. He appears slightly hunched while standing upright when discovered. Page 13-14 also shows Uichi being taller than the bar despite not standing upright. It is unlikely for Rei to strangle himself with his own weight due to the low bar height. The noose also appears relatively loose in Page 10.
5) Might be the TL font, but the suicide note's handwriting seems feminine.

But the friend is so obviously sus that it loops back and she becomes not sus.

Shit. Its Fuu-chan and she has the watch.

Another interesting this is with Yotsuha's friend. She was fairly calm until she touched Rei. It clearly didn't have anything to do with finding a body, she was prepared for this. I wonder what her condition is?
And why does her condition have her taking pills very similar to Yotsuba's pills? Like the ones that swapped by the M girl?

And not touching the body; Fuu-chan didn't start loosing it until she was untying the noose; both of them went to take care of Fuu-chan, leaving Rei-kun to continue to hang there...just to make absolutely sure he's dead.

Cool reaction, but taking medication without water? :thonk:
Some people can do that (I've seen lots of people take pills), but those were seriously huge pills. Some small pills like nitroglycerin for chest pain also dissolve right under your tongue so you don't even have to swallow them.

Those are tiny for exact reason, what Fuu has looks like suppository.

Which would make sense if they were anti-nausea, but she takes them by mouth so… :worry:

Random rant: What the devil is with the trope I see pop up once in a blue moon, where MC has to give their unconfessed love interest a suppository? I mean, yeah… Japan… but seriously, Japan? :korone:

Since everyone here is theorizing, I'll put out mine too with some potential spoilers from untranslated chapters; I believe Clover true identity is
Fuu-chan's mother. A potential important actor that I don't see anyone mention.
My reason those who read the raws and untranslated chapters might know but it's revealed that
Fuu-chan and Yotsuba might potentially be half-siblings. She might be soemone who is connected to the conflict knowing about the truth of her husband and Yotsuba's existence. Might even hate Yotsuba due to her being connected to her evil mom. That could also explain if Rei's grandma mistook Fuu-chan with someone else. I also believe it might be the mom instead of Fuu-chan herself due to the story emphasize on family or guardians or role models and their influences on the characters.
Also the fact I DON'T want Fuu-chan to be the true mastermind, lol!

I'm buying it. Rei has the same ability via Fukatsugi. In a previous, previous timeline, Uichi's successful life would bring about the downfall of Rei's family, somehow affecting Fukatsugi—for example, if this somehow has to do with Yotsuha.

With her dad's research, she would grant Rei the ability to rewind, only for him to end up killing Uichi. Fukatsugi wants to backtrack, but can't take the power back, so hands the same power to Yotsuha.

This double interference ends up worsening things for everyone, so Fukatsugi needs to go the roundabout method and grab their powers back, running interference on both sides.

Whether this is the same Fukatsugi or a different one, I don't have an opinion yet.

I AM GONNA MAKE AN INSANE PREDICTION AND SAY UICHI IS CLOVER. I am putting all of my stocks on that and will not explain my reasoning whatsoever. Just trust me :pepehmm:.

This theory is a possibility for me too which would make Fuu-chan one of the pawns and explain some of Fuu-chan's more sympathetic behavior.
I also came to this thread to share theories and speculation based on the raws (up to the end of free chapters which is chapter 78 right now) but it's kind of long so I'll put in multiple spoiler boxes.

It appears that Yotsuha was born from an affair between Fuu-chan (who is most likely named Futaba, following the naming scheme of Yotsuha and her brother, but with the surname Futatsugi that leads to her name having 2+2 and being 4 just like Yotsuha) and Yotsuha's cult leader mother Kazuha (her name means either one leaf or number-leaf so she's also in the naming scheme). Fuu-chan's father committed suicide (which is why Fuu-chan has this big reaction in this chapter) right after Yotsuha was taken in by her mother. The news announcement about this can be seen in chapter 40, after which Yotsuha's mother says "I guess I don't need him anymore".

My guess is that Yotsuha's mother decided to take her in in order to blackmail her father, or as part of a continuous torture campaign akin to what Uichi was going through (Kazuha's shtick is that people are more lovable the more they suffer, because it gives them depth), but because he died she decided to just have fun with her. The first year of middle school, when Yotsuha becomes sick and the mother no longer has access to her and "dies" in a car accident (the circumstances make it unclear if she's really dead), is when the mastermind approaches Rei and Uichi's torture campaign begins.

In the flashbacks when the mastermind talked to Rei, they said they want to get revenge on Yotsuha, because she killed [censor bar]. Given the timeframe, it basically only makes sense for it to be Yotsuha being blamed for killing Fuu-chan's father, and the point of the revenge is for Yotsuha to feel the same thing Fuu (and/or her mother) felt seeing the dad's hanging body. An important point is that the dad, Uichi, and Rei all used the same suicide method.

In chapter 43, Yotsuha mentions having been in contact with Fuu-chan after starting high school and would have most likely told her she was going to go visit Uichi, allowing Fuu-chan to know the timing to have Yotsuha find out (and feel responsible for his death) and be the one to tell Yotsuha about it afterwards.

What makes the Fuu's mom theory more possible is that it's pretty unclear what Fuu's endgame is for after Uichi's death. After Uichi's death in the original timeline, Fuu-chan says that she will do her best to cheer Yotsuha up, and in one of the untranslated chapters, after spending a whole day trying to cheer up Yotsuha she tells her that her identity is too wrapped up in being "Uichi's four leaf clover" and that she should add "Fuu-chan's best friend" as another part of her identity. With how this manga is, it's possible that Fuu is just a complete sociopath and was planning to turn on Yotsuha afterwards or torture her through her pawns while comforting her to her face. The other option is that after taking revenge, she and Yotsuha would be even and they could just bond as sisters (or wherever that would be taken) with shared trauma.

If the mastermind is her mom then her helping Yotsuha is her small bit of rebellion as a double agent, but even then Fuu-chan is pretty much the one carrying it all out.

The other thing that supports this theory is that in Rei's flashbacks, the blacked out figure of the mastermind is adult-sized. However since this is basically just symbolic it's kind of a red herring.

When Yotsuha tells her brother Mitsuha about the time travel thing, besides accepting it immediately, he gives her the warning not to kill anyone because of how Uichi might feel having someone killed for his sake. I feel like this probably relates to something he experienced. His father also died a few years before Yotsuha was born.
In chapter 77, Yotsuha and Fuu go to the field where Uichi found Yotsuha's four-leaf clover. This field has a small shrine, which has got to be related to the time travel/wish-granting powers of the watch. It's possible that rather than being a god it's some kind of quantum physics wormhole thing related to Fuu's father's research (A familiarity with this would also explain why Mitsuha was unphased by Yotsuha's time travel, because he was always around his mother and whoever she was around). The letter the mastermind sent to Rikka said "I hate Yotsuha because she stole my wristwatch", so if that's not a complete ruse it's possible Fuu also had or thought she could have access to similar time travel methods. That or she just figured out the watch's significance by observing Yotsuha (I've gone through enough past chapters for today so I'm not going to go check if there's a past scene that would point to that right now).
