To make things fair regarding this cliffhanger, Rei is saying "Yotsuba", not "Yotsuha".

What's the difference you ask? Before I get to that, I need to explain these terms:
  • 四葉のクローバー - the symbolic titular "Four-leaf Clover", it's pronounced Yotsuba no Kurooba
  • よつは - our time traveling protagonist, "Yotsuha". While her name is given merely in Hiragana with no Kanji attached for a "solid" meaning, Yotsuha is how you read 四つ葉 meaning "four leaves". "Four leaves" however doesn't automatically link it to the "Four-leaf Clover".
Case in point, in her elementary school years our Yotsuha voiced to Uichi that while her name means "four leaves" and a "Four-leaf Clover" is supposed to be good luck, she thought she's abandoned because she wasn't a good fortune for her parents. But thanks to Uichi's encouragement, she wants to be his Four-leaf Clover for reals.

(As an aside, her brother Mitsuha also only has みつは written in Hiragana, and is the same reading as 三つ葉 meaning "three leaves")

クローバー - Katakana for the English word "Clover", the self-styled alias of the mastermind based on the text messages between them and Uichi's sister, during which they too brought up the symbolic Yotsuba no Kurooba / Four-leaf Clover

Finally, on the last page of this chapter, Rei says よつば / "Yotsuba" in Hiragana. It's the same reading as 四葉

So if this is true, then holy shit I think I called it months ago. Yotsuba from a different timeline.

Yuno : Could this woman be one of my people !?

So forgive some errors, I'm using raws and google lens.
Hacker girl is the mastermind. Yotsuha is the real target, she wants to make her suffer through the suicide of a loved one. This is because they actually share the same father, though in Yotsuha's case it was the result of her nutter mom forcing it (not sure if threats or rape) this and the resulting birth and the nutter mom's behavior led him to commit suicide, shortly followed by hacker girl's mom, which is why she is met as an orphan in the flashbacks. So she blames Yotsuha's existence, seen as she cant point the blame at the mom because she is dead (brother actually snaps and murders her)

Sigh...

Good Old Japanese "The Child Shall Pay For their Parent Sins" Logic !!

I think I see what’s cooking here and it clears Yotsuba. His method to get Uichi and his grandma safe is to drive away the reason the mastermind is targeting Uichi in the first place. He’s seen through the lies at this point and can tell the real motivation is to hurt Yotsuba through Uichi. So if Uichi leaves her, there’s no reason for Clover to target him. Which doesn’t violate his contract with Clover, because Clover would ultimately win with this. It would destroy Yotsuba to have Uichi believe she’s the mastermind.
I hate that the author used an entire chapter and a half just to manufacture
"Rei is afraid of Clover so he says something that won't anger Clover even if Clover hears it",
as an excuse to arm-wrestle in the trope of
"drop a terribly ambiguous 'clue', instead of just outright telling the truth"…
but at least we're getting somewhere, eh?

And thank you for the clear explanation.

i cant take it anymroe :notlikethis:

alternate timeline yotsuba is a very sorry excuse of a mastermind
but if its the mom, then its convenient
if its the brother, poor foreshadowing
if its the best friend, very predictable

the story's so good but at the same time solving the mystery will surely make some people left disappointed or unsatisfied

just go "Kimi ga Shinu Made Ato 100 Nichi" route and make everyone disappointed lmao

Honestly there's no trusting Clover won't murder your nan, ask Uichi for help and he'll step up in a heartbeat.

If someone else is dropping raw spoilers I guess I will too.
Fuu-chan is still the most likely mastermind but re: the suicide it's now confirmed that her dad committed suicide BEFORE knowing about Yotsuha. However it's entirely possible that Yotsuha's mom did send the already prepared blackmail packet to the family and tried to get them to target Yotsuha anyway just for the fun of it. Nothing can really be put past her.
It's definitely seemingly leading up to brother killing mom in the next raw chapter (out next week) but as yet mom's death is still unconfirmed because the only evidence was a severely charred unidentifiable corpse in the driver's seat of her car, which was considered suspicious by her followers because mom always had a chaffeur and sat in the passenger's seat, which is something her son would have known if he was setting the scene up to be framed as an accident.

My theory is it's Yotsuha manipulating Uichi's life to make him emotionally dependent on her while she keeps herself unaware of it. Or something less retarded than that IDFK.
