Yotsuha didn't kill her father directly. Rather, she was intended to be used to torture him but instead her presence drove him to suicide.

Kazuha adores misery and despair. There's nothing she loves more than seeing a happy person break. The happier they are, the better. So when she saw a brilliant genius professor who was recently married and clearly had tons of potential within his field, she saw a delightful meal. So she had one of her followers get her alone with him, drugged him, and slept with him. She intended to repeat this as much as needed, but wound up getting pregnant with the first encounter. Years later, the professor, who was by this point famous both for his brilliant work and his devotion to his wife and daughter, was set to win a Nobel Prize, and Kazuha saw this as the perfect opportunity. That's why she went to fetch Yotsuha, and why she was such an attentive mother: she needed to collect DNA to prove paternity, took pictures to show her off, and eventually intended to have him meet her and slowly push before fully exposing the "affair" and ruining his family and his reputation. But then he was so terrified of this future that he ended it all. That's why Kazuha saw that suicide report and said "Oh my, then I don't need her anymore", and why she immediately switched from a loving mother to trying to see whether her body or spirit would break first.

But in essence, Futaba's statement about her being born to bring misery is kind of true. As in the reason Kazuha got herself pregnant with her was in order to bring as much despair as possible to the professor. Technically her existence wasn't meant to kill him or drive him to suicide, but he couldn't take the despair. Of course, there's more to it than that...

After Futaba is confronted and confirms that she's been plotting to destroy Uichi so Yotsuha could see her beloved kill himself too, she goes into her past. Turns out the happy-go-lucky girl is an act. She used to be a lot like Data from Star Trek, not necessarily cold but still lacking in emotions and excessively analytic, resulting in her having trouble bonding with anyone but her father, who upon hearing her troubles taught her to do what he's been doing for years: fake a cheerful personality that people will like. She even started to somewhat enjoy being with her "friends", even if she felt some loneliness since they didn't really "know" her. The only one who really knew and accepted her was her father. Then he came home one day looking awful, and she saw him muttering stuff like "if not for..." and then the next day found him hanging in his closet. This broke her bad, but it got worse when she figured out how to open his safe that had a puzzle designed so only someone brilliant like her could get it. In it was a picture of Yotsuha, and beneath that a message to her, where he reveals that the love Kazuha showed him after basically raping him bewitched him, and he'd always loved her since. He named Futaba after her (Kazuha=one leaf, Futaba=two leaves) and doted on her while imagining that she was Kazuha's child, thus basically using her as a proxy through which he could pretend to hold the woman he "really" loves. Then Kazuha showed up with a picture of Yotsuha and told him she was his, and this broke him. At the end of the note he begs Futaba to accept this broken, twisted man he'd become. Bad enough that she'd seen her father hanging, but to find out that all the love he'd given her had basically been him using her as a stand-in for that woman messed her up. She forced herself to view this as still a form of happiness, but still even that happiness would have continued if only Yotsuha hadn't been born. Thanks to this she finally breaks down and decides that she needs to make Yotsuha feel the same pain, at which point she starts targeting Uichi, getting Rei to help her as hands and eyes at school while simultaneously corrupting Utako to break his family.

But seriously, of all the things the guy could have written to his daughter, "I loved you and hugged you pretending you were that woman" is really, REALLY messed up. Finally makes sense why she would break hard enough to forget how illogical it is to blame a little girl for the death of someone she hadn't even met.

Yeah at first I couldn't put in my head why would Futaba hated Yotsuha so much because if thinking clearly, Yotsuha herself is a BIG VICTIM in this situation if not the BIGGEST.

Her whole existence was used to destroy someone's happiness. But now with what Futaba revealed especially her father's psyche and struggle, I don't know if a reassurance from her brother Mitsuha and lover, Uichi can erase her guilt about her existence like they did before... The level of f*ck up especially regarding Dr Fumihito Futatsugi is on other level!

I'm actually scared what Yotsuha will do after the confrontation... The only saving grace I can think of and this is just my theory;

Spoiler: Final Loop Theory including spoilers

We learn that there might be a possible way from the time travel power to loop even without the watch especially we learn about the legend of a boy saving his village from upcoming soldier attacks by looping hence why the place was enshrined. I believe a one big loop will happen at the final of this series but it won't focus on Yotsuha but rather her brother, Mitsuha who will try to find a way to erase all the problems and trauma from ever happening. Either he'll follow Yotsuha's wish of not wanting to exist or not.

Except I am not including details of what happens in the next chapters? I just plainly said that chapter 80 is crazy and the rest is a snooze fest, which can be true or not.

After all this time, it turns out big bro's just stupid.

Call me whatever, but after reading the Indonesian translation until chapter 93, Mitsuha (Yotsuha's big brother) actually became my fave character. Like damn, I legit tear up at his backstory. I always thought he was a just a quiet weirdo, and then the story drop that backstory and it hit me like a truck ☠️

Well, at this point, it's already very likely. But knowing the author they might throw some super curveball out of nowhere.

The only thing thats for damn sure now is that Yotsuha and Futaba are half-sisters, and Yotsuha's mother (and maybe Yotsuha's birth, even) cause the professor to commit suicide, which in turn caused Futaba to attempt suicide.

What a tangled mess.
