It's easier to use the exercise bike longer than the treadmill. Also, treadmill uses power for you to run, a bike generates power by you moving.

The real McCoy is to use a massive,omni-directional,smooth hamster ball,so even if they fall,their mass will conserve the momentum a bit longer before they get up and realise that there is no escape.

Oh,you've never seen an omni-directional stand before?...

Simply put,the rollers would be the ones connected to the generators,they wouldn't even have to be 100% omni-directional either,so long as the momentum is conserved due to the humans' mass being pressed against the ball during a trip,allowing a few more good spins before slow downs occur,which is around which the human should be getting up.
