huh. Another oddity about this manga that's been bugging me -

Vento has no prior friends.

Yes, prior Vento was an actual rapist psychopath.

But, horribly enough, people love psychopaths. When I was growing up, the school bully was always one of the most popular kids in his grade, if not the most popoular. In the adult world, terrible people are exactly the ones who get promoted to positions of power. Being a shameless monster will draw in countless people who either wish they had the nerve to be shameless monsters, or hope to gain some sort of benefit from clinging to a shameless monster or are shameless monsters themselves.

Vento shouldn't be alone. Vento should have entire former posse of shitbags who are confused that he stopped being fun.

I always read Skyrim quotes with Balgruf’s voice. The throne dude who talks about being a little girl in France and dances on tables while rapping “Ballin’”.

Well that's a retcon from chapter 2. In chapter 2 Vento mentioned that the only memories of the bad deeds that he knows of were the ones mentioned in game, which implied no memories of the world, but then he mentioned in this chapter that the original Vento's memories were shared which is why being in the capital being exciting faded fast.
