That is something we haven't seen yet.... We've only seen him eat the souls of those he's killed but not ones he's killed while not eating their soul

I guess technically the pregnant lady was killed by the ghost of her ex, but
it'd be an interesting 'bonus' this time if he ate whatever soul(s) was haunting the tree unless it has to be 'fresh' for them
