FYI for people who are curious about this sequel

There's a few months time-skip after the ending of the Kabukichou-hen,

after Kiriya became Capone's rep player with a stage-name "Tetsunaki no Kirinji" (title drop)

The protagonist is a complete Mahjong newbie and they keep introducing the Yaku one by one.
Maybe they want to bait new readers into reading this because the prequel didn't sell quite well or something.
But so far the protagonist is a very quick learner. I guess you can consider her a genius, but not as much as Akagi of course.

She already beats the "final boss" of the prequel manga in her very first Mahjong match ever without knowing the rules of the game at all.

I'm enjoying Tetsunaki no Kirinji so far, and seeing a female protagonist of this new series wondered if it was his daughter grown-up

I can tell from the other comment that's not the case, but it would be cool to see, anyway. Hoping this one can get scanlated too, in due time!

Considering it took me a whole month to learn how to play mahjong somewhat poorly as an adult, she's an incredible genius.
