I don't know the full details but did Japan really needed to make a spin off when the main series is already successful & making a lot of progress? Not to bash on the artist (I'm sure they're happy to work on something) but when you compare the two, you can see which one looks better. Obviously it is to milk the series but I don't believe anyone is starved for more content that doesn't add much to the story. I'm aware there is only 1 chapter to work with but it this doesn't expand the lore. If I'm wrong then I'll take my beatings for it. Sorry to complain & thanks for the translations.

Maybe this was originally meant to be the lightearted version to contrast the main story's recent drama arc.

But then the author decided to go ahead and do the confession in the main story before this spin-off was published.

Guess we could see this spin-off as having happened before the drama arc, seeing how no one looks like they are miserable black holes of agony like in that arc

Comments are overthinking this. Popular manga get spin offs all the time, this isn't surprising. The IP makes a lot of money, even when you exclude the merch and collabs, the last few volumes were some of the best selling yet. They have a live action adaptation, and now they're about to drop the second season of the anime. I'm surprised they haven't made a VN with alternate routes as s cashgrab at this point.

Given the other manga I've seen by the artist, Choboraunyopomi — both for Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Hangyaku no Nijigasaki and the old Love Live! School Idol Festival All Stars 4-koma: Famitsu — this is the sort of thing I was kind of expecting: slice of life with a strong component of zaniness. With luck we'll see the other classmates and cosplayers as well.

What is “a fucking lot” to you? You can buy a basic one for under $100, though it probably won’t have the flowing noodle feature 😂 Still on the expensive side for a casual gift for a friend, (esp since he said he saved up to buy his) but not so much you need to be rich. Unless you mean the commercial sewing machines?

I didn’t like this little spinoff - not a fan of the OTT silliness or the artwork.
