My uncle is an electrician, some building codes required it to be on a single switch so that the fan reduce moisture in the air. Thus preventing mold buildup or moisture from getting into the wiring and making a short.

I'm not saying bathing in the dark is easy... but its not that hard
I feel the same. Like my roomate claims that walking in the dark is hard. Bro, you have been living here for more than a year and are an architect, how can you find hard memorizing a 20x20 m flat? Half of that you can't even enter because they are other roomates' rooms, you just have to remember the bathroom and the kitchen and the way from your bed to the corridor.

The code where I live states that the exhaust fan needs to be wired to a separate switch from the light. Though it may not have always been the case.
