hmm was really confused for a second because there's another manga called "Kiss & Never Cry" which is also about ice-skating. i wonder if it was on purpose?

I think the title is based on the "kiss and cry" area in ice-skating competitions. It's where the skaters wait to hear the results of their performances.

When I see this, I have a feeling that the author inspired by something.

Not from other skate manga, if I remember correctly before this got serialization, around that time Japan won Gold Medal in Pyeongchang 2018. And the protagonist here reminded me with Yuzuru Hanyu XD *btw i love his outfit, mix between glamor x Japan's traditional costumes*

I'm really happy because it is not another cliche sports shounen. I'm quite fed up with Baseball, Basketball and Football.
