Personally ive tried caviar before, its really not all that special. I feel like its one of those things like wine or lobster. Where they're only expensive because upper class people force a high end image onto the dish. In case you didnt know, lobster was actually considered a low class dish back during the industrial revolution here in the US. It was sold in bars and saloons as a lunch dish for travelers and was sold very cheaply. It only gained the "luxury" status after some higher end restaurants started serving it to their customers.
