but I feel like we need more stakes to show that the XP transfer is dangerous

Our two examples are
1. Childhood friend getting it, and he even states he doesn't know what happened to her
2. Teacher, whom by all metrics it went fantastically with even if it was something very intense

Something truly bad needs to happen. Because yeah the character is justifiably worried about what happens if he goes all the way but this is still a story about "having sex with women to give them XP" so it doesn't matter if you give the character flashback trauma people are still going to stamp their feet and go "WHY ISN'T HE HAVING SEX. IF I WAS HIM I'D HAVE ALL THE SEX".

I'm probably thinking too hard for a story with this kind of premise.

Honestly, with the setup men should still have more power in this society. They hold the exp that women need to make a living and dungeon dive so it should be up to their discretion.

SA would be written off instead of "what were you wearing" to "well you got exp didn't you" why complain. The fact that it's not is just author's prerogative. Which to he clear, I'm more than fine with, no an advocate for SA.

I do kinda get MC like you don't want to put yourself in a compromising position and he is a kid enjoying his youth of just having a girl to hang out with. If he gave her the points she would have some crazy orgasm, he would feel no pleasure, she would then leave and never come back like his teacher, and like his family. Don't forget he does have trauma associated with giving exp, hence why he is even living alone right now.

He seems to feel cursed and ashamed of it not openly flaunting it and trying to maintain a sense of normalcy.

I thought I’d go ahead and join the diss train for this lame ass ninja. Despite the whole “Rogue” mechanic to keep this story wholesome (because no one in their right non-Japanese protagonist mind wouldn’t have a harem of super divers by now), he still could do ANYTHING other than being a passive pussy.

He could man up and look in on his former friend girl he comasized. He could check back with his teacher, with experienced divers, with forcibly retired divers that would be willing to risk it. Ah, but no. Just a bullshit “woe is me, my cursed dik burns with an awesome power that I can’t control!” backstory to keep it PG.

He has no agency, no drive. He’s doing nothing to move the plot, the plot is just moving him. That’s the real rooster-tease of this story.

Remember, we literally do not know what happened to his childhood friend. Nor does he. To him it wasn't just a hospitalization but an outright social retreat.

Besides, remember he was about to be jumped last chapter until he pulled out his zero card. It's super super dangerous for him to spread the word on his ability. If I had to guess, men need time to recharge (it's clearly not a one time thing, otherwise zero EXP wouldn't be so rare). So it's always more beneficial for girls to move around with partners than rely on a single one. But we don't have a full explanation yet on the mechanics.

I think he could have some good will and asked to meet her mom if he didn't believe it. They got pretty intimate , I don't think it would be a problem for her.
