Somehow it seems like a maiko needs to follow more rules than the wielder of Excalibur.

hello, you must be new in japanese cuisine, let me introduce you to spaghetti napolitan

"Naporitan or Napolitan (Japanese: ナポリタン) is a popular Japanese pasta dish. The dish consists of spaghetti, tomato ketchup or a tomato-based sauce, onion, button mushrooms, green peppers, sausage, bacon and Tabasco sauce. Naporitan is claimed to be from Yokohama.[1] An instant Naporitan is also available in Japan today. "

next time i'll tell you about yakisoba pan, a hotdog bun topped with noodles, yup, totally japanese stuff.

@malu a tomato based sauce is very different than ketchup. The dish sounds totally fine and not too out there other than the ketchup but maybe it just means a ketchup based sauce or maybe japan has a different kind of ketchup. I'm just imagining dumping some heinz on a bowl of spaghetti and it makes me feel a little ill no matter how much other good stuff is included.

Ew ketchup. Omurice tastes better with tonkatsu sauce anyways.

They put actually put ketchup in and it is delicious. I don't get why people so fixate about that anyway. I put ketchup on everything, pizza, spaghetti, burger, hot dog, fried chicken, etc.

@ojoudere
Tonkatsu sauce is too salty.

@malu I think 2 days off as in the only 2 days maiko can let their hair down. They may have other days off but they have to keep the hairstyle so they cannot go out. They are in the service industry and they still have training too so that is expected.

Because ketchup isn't very good and it's very sweet. I liked ketchup when I was 8 (probably because of the sweetness) but I really can't put ketchup on anything now, It just ruins anything you put it with.

I'd rather eat spaghetti with ketchup than without. Of course if I could choose freely, I'd certainly taka nice sauce instead, but eating spaghetti without any condiment whatsoever sounds too brutal.

@Elki Buy ketchup that's less sweet. I don't know where you live, but I'm sure you can find such a variety. But of course if you don't like tomato in general, then it's best to forget ketchup.

You all debating about ketchup on spaghetti when what's really important is how creative Kiyo was to have the mini picnic on the balcony so that Sumire wouldn't be upset. It's just a light coating and is usually mixed with tonkotsu or worcestershire sauce depending on the restaurant/household. And if you all think ketchup on spaghetti is weird, Japan probably thinks something similar about avocado sushi.
