Starting from this chapter, I’m switching the character name from Goa to Gore. After digging into it, I realized that while ゴア can be read as either Goa or Gore, “Gore” is way more common for people’s names, whereas "Goa" tends to pop up as a place name, like the Goa Kingdom (ゴア王国) in One Piece. So, from here on out, I’ll be sticking with Gore for the character. I've also created a page about this name change in this chapter, so be sure to check it out.

P/S: Enjoy your chapter.

He should have proposed and babied her, overload whatever love mind control she's under with more love than it can handle!

Thanks for the chapter!

one of my favorite battle shonen tropes is when a character gets hypnotized but does not fully fall into the control of the antagonists and causes a huge fucking mess because of it :meguusmug:

"I wouldn't call it secret or anything..." Lol

Honestly, though, rather than having the old guy ask if Hero has a "secret plan" (which he arguably does), I'd probably translate it as "clever scheme."

"I'm going to break down the door and walk out" is technically a plan. It is not clever or what I would call a "scheme"

Honestly, and maybe it's just me, but I think Goa is a better name. "Gore" is a word with particular meaning in English, and as a name it's only ever a surname (with, I imagine, vastly different roots than the regular word that I mentioned.)

Goa may be rarer and may also sorta be nonsense, but it doesn't have any "baggage" like making her name constantly evoke the image of blood and guts (which doesn't actually fit with her poisoning theme, so it's not really appropriate.)

That does lead to a good question what are their full names. I don't think it is the case where she is only using her family name. And given her dark and sadistic tendencies I think gore might work well. Then the only one with out a hostile name would be Ceil.

Fantasy settings often don't even have character surnames outside of high nobility or royalty because it wasn't often a thing back in real medieval times in terms of the average person. So they may each only have a single, given name.

I also figure that Anemone is probably a code name if she's an assassin.

Goa definitely sounds more like a name than Gore. In English, gore is a noun with a grisly and violent connotation, not fitting for a person's given name, and especially not a woman's name in my opinion.
I will concede that Gore is a not terribly uncommon surname, but I believe it's her given name here. Whatever the case it's the name everyone calls her and to me it's rather uncomfortable to see someone called "Gore".

Her name in chapter 1 is translated as "Goa Minagawa". Pretty sure Minagawa is the surname.

From what I've seen on various Japanese websites, the name ゴア (Goa) often refers to well-known places like the Indian state of Goa. To avoid mixing it up with "Gore" they sometimes write "Goa" next to it for clarity. Also, in one of the manga I follow, Versus, the official English translation uses "Gore" for the character ゴア, who’s the leader of the Lawless gang.

But anyway, thanks for your input, I’ll keep it in mind. If an official anime comes out later, I might tweak the name then.

Good news. It has or soon will.
