Page 5-6: The capital's design is lazy.

A few simplistic building templates, copy-pasted totally at random.

All buildings seem to face the same direction, and there is no clear main street... or street at all. Only a few random empty spaces would look like streets except that they don't connect or lead anywhere in particular. No outstanding building outside of the palace... and many buildings that are completely inaccessible for being totally surrounded by other overlapping ones.

This is so bad and obvious that it took me completely out of the story (generic as it is).

(Edit)
If the author artist was really that lazy, he should have drawn a much lower angle with the only visible parts being the walls and the upper part of the palace.
(Shifted the blame as per @Mangamoz below. Still, I expect the author to vet the result and he accepted this lazy display.)

It's even worse than that.

The author is not the artist in this manga. They are completely different people.

So the author hired an artist to do their manga for them, and THIS is what they get for their cash.

Author must have hired the cheapest shmuck they could find to draw their story for them.

i know i'm picky here, but that artistic city perspective seems rather odd. either there's a weird cliff inside the city, or the artist just tried to showcase his skill of drawing small houses even if it results in more issues. xd

Daaaamn, that is one ugly city if I ever saw one.
For some reason, the city walls have stairs both inside and outside them?
With no ramp visible?
I would certainly like to see how carriages pass through them.

yeah, there is also ways of doing it with less effort but still presentable.

The full on copy paste, houses on top of other houses, houses growing out of walls and towers of the capital view is peak laziness.

to be fair, not every artist has the same skillset and they need to learn the ropes one way or another, so it might be possible that the editor of the series, from the publisher, just decided to give the artist a go in this series. even artists needs some experiences, even if they include some failures, to learn, and while surprisingly many are picky about that one panel, it's not like all the art in this series is bad.

Except this doesn't meet any standards above the bottom-of-barrel one.
It shows no effort, no respect for anybody (reader, author, editor), much less any talent or even potential.
This was the laziest display I've ever seen, and I've read my fair share of cheap mangas out there.
It doesn't show failure, it shows no intent to try in the first place.

I'm not expecting top-tier level of skill. Just "decent" would be fine.
If you can't do urban landscapes, don't pretend. Pass it on to someone who can do the bare minimum you so obviously can't.
If you simply can't be bothered to try... well... maybe consider a different job?

I'm generally not too critical of barely average art, because I can acknowledge effort and skills particularly in a domain that I'm extremely bad at. (I'm barely able to draw stick figures with acceptable proportions, anything else is beyond me.) But this double-page doesn't show the bare minimum effort and respect for the audience.
It's not just bad, I see it as outright insulting.

Even if this single panel was delegated or subcontracted work, it shouldn't have passed any level of scrutiny and validation before submission.

The art of this manga is otherwise decent. Not bad, not good. Just ok, and that's fine with me.
Both story and art are pretty generic, but they meet the "decent" standard.
Which is why this panel stood out so negatively in comparison.

not exactly a fair comparison to showcase some chapter 5 art to a panel of a 200+ chapter panel which made the artist not only accumulate tons of experiences, but also likely granted the team more time to deliver good content with a much stricter editor in place.

Another example that shows some good effort...
The one within the villainess, Chapter 20, page 3-4
We can probably find some more.

Satisfied? Not a 200+ chapter panel.
just as bad or even worse. the cliff the 2 are standing on gotta be heavily tilted and on a massive mountain, if that view of the WHOLE city is to be achieved. also, most building have the same scale, so this would imply buildings further back be alot bigger than the ones closer, and with trees and even people being the same scale as well, the city gotta have some giant people included. 😂

I disagree: it's definitely not as bad as what we get in the case here.
I didn't say it was perfect, but there is some decent effort. I agree that the scaling and perspective are off, but at least there is structure to the place. Streets, building orientation and variation, points of interest. There is a lack of skill, but not a complete absence of effort.
That example is something that at least is not an insult to the reader. As I said in a previous comment, I don't expect top-tier all the time. Just "decent" is fine.
