That's how Enjoji is going to die. He's clearly underestimating the Yakuza he is facing and being naive. His wife has clearly more sense than him when it come to that.

And Jinsei himself was being naive too, not realising the bad guy would keep going until he died and that beating him like that is just gonna make him worst because he'll want to save face.
