I think we all foresaw this unfolding pretty much like this, but I’m glad they didn’t go the obvious route of having her kill them both. Getting his mom involved and reminding him that he was an utter disappointment to her while setting him up to spend the rest of his life in prison is honestly much more satisfying than just killing him off.

(but it makes sense she'd have to leave bc of too much media attention and such [altho if this was a bigger scale story i'd expect her to have some spies/proteges in place to make sure everyone 'behaves' after she leaves])
