I need that game. I hate it when the game they play in a fiction actually looks a bit interesting.

I think he might be jealous, even if he don't understand it himself. Just look at chapter "Ch. 119 - Tooru and Jealousy II" to see what i mean

I understand Fafnir even less.
If he can only view his relationships with others in a hostile manner, and sees his relationship with Takiya in a more competitive manner, than there's no reason to hate Kobayashi so much.
Kobayashi is probably his biggest threat. Fafnir is a collector, and he fiercely guards everything he has. Kobayashi is in a position where she could take it all away from him, and he fears that. We know she wouldn't do that on a whim, but he can't allow himself to think otherwise. If it were someone else in Kobayashi's position, the threat would probably work against him. With her, he's the dog at the end of his leash. All bark, no bite, unless you get too close.

A lot of theories on Fafnir's "hate". Well, let me indulge too.
I'm impressed to Fafnir's change of expression when talking about Kobayashi. Looked like he actually feels it, contrary to the other ones.
And knowing that he is usually listless and only reacts like that when there is something really important to him (see end of ch.120), I believe Kobayashi poses a threat to his "treasures", whatever he considers as such. Maybe she can steal something from him. Or already have done.
I wonder, what could that be?

Tohru and Kobayashi
Saikawa and Kanna
Elma and Tohru
Elma and Kobayashi (one-way, implied)
Lucoa and her sister
Tohru and Kobayashi aren't in a relationship yet. Kobayashi hasn't explicitly said anything about dating her.
Saikawa and Kanna are children and aren't explicitly in a relationship.
Elma and Tohru aren't in a gay relationship. It's arguable that maybe when they traveled together in the past it was like that, but it's never been explicitly said.
Elma and Kobayashi is the same thing.
Lucoa and her sister have just been introduced and for one panel. How is that a gay relationship?

You know, is the new dragon Shenlong? Like outside of DB stuff of shenlong being a dragon who concede wishes, this dragon said most people wouldn't see her, just like in the myth. Together with that put the prince of Journey to the West together and consider that he may have died and there you go.

Damn you guys in this comment section are so damn smart to analyze this shit bruh I need YouTube video essays to get advanced takeaways Hhahaha:
That's hilarious, Fafnir is getting a game featuring "Sigurd" when in the original mythology Sigurd is the Norse warrior that killed him.

I think Fafnir considers Kobayashi the worse enemy because she's actively trying to make friends with all of the dragons she encounters, meaning eventually they'll all get along to a sort and Fafnir won't have any enemies to base his relationship rules on.

Edit: Also it could be because that she has a holy sword now, making her this universe's version of Sigurd.

Anyway, I was just gonna say. I sure do hope that there's a way to extend Kobayashi's and Takiya's lifespan somehow, wouldn't that be cool, hopefully at the end of the manga at least? I remember Tohru saying something about immortality potion that one time where Kobayashi got sick (was in anime too) and I think there was somnething about humans becoming dragons and hey maybe there's some funky magic that does it easily anyway that people have found out about!

I mean think about it, the normal bad parts of being unable to age would be the monotony and the fact that you see all ur friends die but even the young dragons have been managing it for hundreds of years and the dragons aren't going anywhere obviously lol.
In conclusion, keep the threat of mortality there as an interesting topic for the plot to return to but at the end of the manga have 'em become unable to age THE END

Fafnir is a former human or dwarf that turned into a dragon just to protect his treasure hoard from thieves.

A lot of fantasy stories have dragons literally sharing their heart or giving a piece of their soul to a non-dragon they 100% trust in order to turn them into a Dragoon (Dragon Knight).

For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonheart

Of all the dragons in the story so far, Fafnir is probably the least "human" one. He sounds like a wild animal sometimes. There's always a lingering tension whenever he shows up and he makes little to no effort to compromise with anyone.

He's like this even in the spinoffs, and that's saying something, because they're pretty much pure comedy, and he still seems one step away from burning everything down.
And then we get the loli Fafnir, which is still somehow menacing. xD

Applying the real world mythology to those 2 is what everyone "agrees" on because Lucoa already mentioned something relating to it way back then.

Kobayashi is his worst enemy because he was afraid they would run out of deluxe editions, she was after his treasure lol
