Or like... Have an affair? Be married to that other chick on paper and just date the other one for real. I feel like if this was implemented for real, extramarital affairs would become absolutely rampant. I mean, as far as I know, they are quite common in Japan already, but holy shit. Did they also make cheating illegal at the same time? Are they forcing women to get pregnant? If not, it feels like the law doesn't really do anything other than force people into the legal bindings of marriage. Being married doesn't mean you automatically live together, have children or even spend any time together at all. And if they do force people to do all those things, how in the fucking hell do they enforce it? Are they living in a police surveillance state? How is all of that financed?
