It'd be kind of wild if this didn't turn into romance between Shouya & Umi and was just them helping one another achieve their aims and goals.
I doubt it, but it'd be a major subversion of what's expected - with the "romance" angle either happening way down the line, or gasp Umi gets together with a classmate instead of Shouya.

The disconnect of what she's perceiving in class and (what I'm assuming is being portrayed as) the reality of how her classmates really feel, should be a fun little subplot to the story. "Ice Queen" who's simply oblivious and thinks everyone hates her is not the most common iteration of that trope I've personally seen.

Also I wonder how long it'll take before a friend of hers (when she makes one) comes over and finds out what Shouya does for a living.

And/or she forgets she has one of his drafts in her backpack among other manga and it gets spotted at school by a classmate (honestly I expect this to happen, like, very much so).

I’ve read Horimiya but it’s been a while (and I still have beef with him cutting his hair and removing his piercings lol). Anyway, I’m pleasantly wowed by how Expert the art and writing feel in this, like this just feels so solidly entertaining and well-made in a way that feels like it was made by a mature master mangaka lol. Like, I don’t find the setting or concept super compelling but the way it’s executed, all the little character moments, make me rank it pretty highly anyway.

I think the whole class sees her as "Unapproachable Beauty", but Umi herself thinks all their furtive glances and staring are 'negative' in nature and that they all hate her.

Which is why we're shown the window & curtains shot you point to, to give the real story of how she's perceived, and why the girl who does talk to her about the manga title, is acting all giddy over a conversation with Umi.
