I don't get the collectivist/capitalist discussion. Obviously Star Trek is collectivist. They have a society where there is no lack of anything, everyone has access to basically whatever, and they work because they want to.
They even have extreme capitalists in the form of the Ferengi, just as an example of how bad that is.
