@Skarrmanga remember that the curse was placed when the MC was 6 years old. Assuming the two species age at the same rate, there is a solid chance that Akaha placed the curse because she was an immature six-year old and didn't realize it would traumatize our protag like it did. So now she feels backed into a corner, fearing what will happen if he ever finds out who cast it. It also explains why she has been so distant up until now, she fears his inevitable reaction to a percieved (and very real) betrayal. And removing it would require revealing what she is, and putting two and two together from there isn't hard...
That, of course, all depends on the author planning that far out. Do you believe him capable of that?

So, she must have out the curse on him pretty soon after he met Sakura the first time...probably as a direct response, since she was jealous/had a preschool crush on him that just never went away.

Cliche-fest this may be, but when the dumb moments are revealed with such good pacing, I can't help but enjoy it.

EDIT: Wait, from what we saw, the pervert friend is very much rooting for the yandere. Which means that when he exploited the curse, he was secretly wingmanning for her. It did and didn't work. Killed MC's chances with other girls, but didn't close the distance between him and Akaha.

@SomeGuy1 That does sound more palatable than her just being a psychotic, yandere bitch. It also makes it easier to accept if he decides to forgive her. But I find that unlikely since she strengthened the curse even more instead of leaving it alone or removing it discretely if she did indeed care about how it's affecting him.
