i feel like that is at least the 3rd time i've read something with that Plot.Hm? Pretty sure I've read this one before
Everybody presents themselves in the most positive light when meeting someone they want to make a good impression on. If you replace being a delinquent with being a slob at home, of course they'd want to make themselves look prim and proper when meeting the person. It's not a lie, it's just not showing the person the full truth. The fuck? This is cute but kinda creepy if you think about how both of them are lying to one another. No relationship can survive if they are based off lies, oh well. There is also another manga with a similar premise and it was axed and had a shit ending.
Yeah it's a pretty necessary tactic depending on the quality and the freshness, but it's so tasty. Certain brands of dried squid dehydrate it even further (or if you just leave the bag open for a while and it gets stale), and so instead of having the consistency of soft grass, it has the consistency of a stone, so you need to marinate it in your saliva for a while to be able to chew it into pieces (if you don't just attempt to chew the whole thing). Like hard tack, but squid!WTF does he have in his mouth? I think maybe the manga artist isn't allowed to draw him smoking because he's underage, but wtf did they replace with? Crumpled up sticks of gum? String beans?
Edit: oh I should read. It's dried squid.
