Japan, you mean? Politically it's a bit messed up and Haruhi help you if you get outed in the wrong place, but actual crimes seem to be pretty thin on the ground. Well to be fair there was one involving LGBTQ - an American naval servicemember was murdered by a shipmate in Japan.

Koreans in Japan tend to have a bit more of a problem with violence and hate crimes though.

Wasn't there a problem in Japan where the police would just straight up not register low level crime because they either couldn't be ass to do or they do it to clean the records? IIRC the crime rate is severely higher than the reported number
